How to choose the best office furniture

Choosing the right office furniture is as important as choosing furniture for the home. After all, we do spend more time in the office than at home. Office furniture should not only be comfortable to use, but it should add to the ambience and look of the office. Here are some tips that you should keep in mind before choosing the furniture for the office.

The office chairs would be the most used furniture in the office, and you should check whether it is ergonomic and comfortable enough for the employees to use. Ergonomic chairs do not just look good, but they are very good for the employee's posture and health. Frankly, people will not be quite productive if they do not like, or are not comfortable, with the office environs and the furniture. Additionally, if you do not spruce up the office to make it look good, your visiting clients might not be very impressed, and this have unpleasant repercussions on your business. One way to make the office look tasteful is to choose furniture that is themed together, or something that matches the nature of business, or the colour of the walls and the building. To buy furniture that goes with a particular theme, you need to buy all the furniture at one go, or use tailor-made furniture – which would take a lot of time.

The material used to make the furniture plays a very important too. Normally, furniture is made of wood, wrought iron, plastic and other materials. Wrought iron is considerably lighter than wood, and it is stronger and durable. Furniture manufacturers use plastic widely for office furniture. Wrought iron furniture is simple to clean and maintain, and many offices are opting for this kind of furniture. Some modern offices, particularly those in the creative field, are even using cane furniture. The cost of cane furniture varies, and some big brands sell cane furniture for prices that are higher than what wrought iron furniture would cost. However, cane furniture requires a lot of maintenance and looks old quite earlier, as compared to the iron and wooden furniture. Using cane furniture might not be the best idea for an office.

It is important to buy the exact amount of tables required for keeping various devices, right from the office printer to the water cooler. You should also ensure that the tables for these devices fit snugly in a corner, and do not disturb the employee movement on a daily basis.

While planning on the design of the office furniture, make sure that the design and make of the furniture allows for enough room for the employee's movement. If you are planning to buy furniture for an office that has many people moving around, you should look for furniture that decreases the number of accidents. Hard edges, hard table foots can be the reason for quite a few injuries in the office, so you need to consider these aspects before you order the office furniture.

One should consider these and other aspects before buying office furniture. There are several furniture designers, and most of them have an online presence. The websites provide all the information a buyer would want through online catalogues.

Eight Ways Firms Can Stay Creative In Lead Generation

In business these days, creativity is the juice that keeps companies going. Given the way globalization has taken over, with more challenges facing
entrepreneurs than ever, you will need a way to meet these problems head-on, which leads us straight to creativity. How can we stay creative in business? For those of us involved in lead generation, this is a challenge that needs to be dealt with – fast. It is a fact that for us entrepreneurs in the business of information technology, we need business data. That comes in the form of IT sales leads. Remember that B2B leads play a key role in helping us stay profitable, providing us with the necessary business prospects as well as the data on how to best approach them. How will we be able to get the business information that we will need?

There are several ways to do it:

1. Look for people to work with you that you and your team will be comfortable with. Yes, getting someone with the degree and the experience sounds nice, but if you often butt heads in the end, it is not worth it.
2. Get your people to keep on improving themselves, and then take note of them. In terms of generating B2B leads, you will want to recognize those who are able to up the game and bring more benefits to your company.
3. If you have a vision, do not keep it to yourself. Share that with your employees. Let them realize that what they are doing, no matter how stressful or mundane it may seem, can actually be reached if they work hard enough.
4. Think of a Russian nesting doll (where the outer doll is bigger than the inner doll), and you will realize that making your company big requires you to hire people who can make it big. If you only hire people who are inferior to you, then you are heading straight to creative stagnancy.
5. Make a trial run with a new hire. She may have an MBA in marketing or engineering, but if she acts like a prima donna or a newbie on the team, then she will have to leave. Let them work as contractors first. If they really fit in, then that is the time to make the formal offer.

6. Show trust in your team. If you can show your team that you trust them and that you believe that they can do it, more likely than not, they will push themselves to succeed. If you want your business to grow and get that lucrative business deal, then you should cut them some slack.

7. Identify your weak areas in the business. This way, you will be able to address them fully. Hire an expert who can really turn things around and make changes happen. And if she is really that good, then try getting her to work you as a full-time employee.

8. Create the balance between the creative and the executive. You will need creative employees who can come up with exciting ideas to make your lead generation campaign a success, but do not forget the people who can actually make those ideas happen.

Simply put, these are good points to consider in your business.

How To Write More Successful Article Headlines

When you're doing your article marketing, you might be tempted to assume that the key to a successful article is the article itself, but that's actually not true.

Yes, the article needs to be helpful and well written, but before someone has your full article sitting in front of them they will be looking at a list of article headlines (or titles).

In order for a reader to see your entire article, they will most often have to select your article from a sea of titles on similar topics. If your title catches their eye, then they will click the link and read your article.

So, guess what the pivotal key to a successful article is? You guessed it--it's the title!

What makes a good article headline?

=> A good title reveals the gist of what your article is about.

=> A good title makes the reader want to read your article.

Some basic tips:

1- Your title should clearly state what your article is about.

2- Your title should be written with the intention of capturing a reader's attention.

3 - Your title should be more than just your keywords.

4 - Try to avoid sarcasm and puns--search engines (and humans!) understand straightforward language more easily.

5 - Be sure that your headline does not promise something that your article does not deliver. For example, let's say your article is detailing 10 things to look for when hiring a personal trainer:

A bad title: "New Jersey Personal Trainer: 10 Things To Look For"

Why is this title bad?

The article is about finding a personal trainer but is not specific to New Jersey. So, it would not be appropriate to include the location of New Jersey in the title. The only time when it would be appropriate to include a location in a title would be if the article was specifically pertaining to that location.

A good title: "10 Things to Look for When Hiring a Personal Trainer"

Why is this title good?

It tells exactly what the article is about. Anyone who is looking to hire a personal trainer would be interested in that article title.

Here are 3 different types of titles to experiment with:

1 - The "How-To" Title--these types of titles (and articles) are very popular on the internet. They are not flashy, but they clearly state what the article is about and the benefit of the article. For example:

"How to Hold a Baby"

"How To Paint Kitchen Cabinets"

2 - The "list" title--a title that references a numbered list. For example:

"Top 10 Chicken Recipes"

"7 Reasons You Should Learn Ballroom Dancing"

3 - A title with your keywords. Be careful on this--your keywords should not comprise the entire article headline, but rather just be a part of it. And you should only use your keywords in your title when appropriate.

Remember, the title must reflect what the article is about, so if your article is not about your keywords, it would not be appropriate to include them in your title. If you are including your keywords, try putting them at the beginning of the title. That will help readers who are scanning lists quickly pick up on the topic of your article, and it will also help search engines.

Conclusion:

Here's some homework for you...

=> Try using these different types of titles and see how they work for you.

=> Imagine how your title will appear to a reader looking at a long list of article headlines on the same topic.

=> Aim for these two things with your next article title: simple and to the point, and also attractive to your target reader.

Social Media Interaction for Internet Home Business Success

Social media interaction can make a huge difference when you are looking for internet home business success. Blogs and social media sites are today considered as two sides of the same coin. This is because of the fact that blogs are social by nature. Using the social media site, you can harness the power of “Word Of Mouth” to reach out for the target audience and it has been proved again and again the social media interaction plays a very crucial role in generating quality backlinks which translates into new targeted traffic.
Social media interaction is essentially a method of interaction with the likeminded people to popularize the blogs. Interaction or conversation and promotion are entirely two different aspects and social media should not be used for promotion. Promotion can be done by a number of other methods, like article marketing, promotional emails, new letters, press releases and more.
Conversation is something different. You need to speak with people. Put across your ideas and thoughts to them and ask them to voice their thoughts. Respect their opinion and try to understand their view on the subject. Try to find out what they think to be important. There can be differences in views and you need to discuss the source and reason for such difference. This will give you a fairly good idea of what you need to do to get more traffic. This is where you do not promote your business. Let people do the job for you. Start a discussion and you will see that more and more people will join which eventually translates into traffic for your internet home business.
There are several social media sites that you can use. It is not necessary to use all of them. You can use the ones that you like. Different social media sites which can be used are Facebook, StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us, Twitter, Digg and more. There are some WordPress plugins which can be used to reach out for multiple social interaction sites at a time.
However, it is not suggested to use auto tweets. It is because, auto tweets are generic in nature and they can create a negative feeling. It is always advisable that you use customized tweets every single time you use twitter. This will show that you are always updating and personalizing your account. They will realize that they are dealing with a real person and not a bot. Social interaction is one of the best ways to expand new business and they can play a vital role in internet home business success.

12 Easy Steps to Create Positive Self-Talk Leading to Your Success

GuestPost by: Sonia Gallagher, Esq.

Have you ever noticed a trend in the thinking patterns of successful people? Have you ever wondered why it seems like success comes so easily to some people and so difficult for others?
It all has to do with your beliefs and self-talk.
People that achieve success in a consistent basis have one thing in common. Whether they are successful athletes, executives, business owners, or artists, they all know that they will succeed. They know this before they even attempt to achieve the goal they set out for themselves. They envision themselves living the way they want to live and feeling the excitement, gratitude, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from reaching what they set out to do.
Positive self-talk is the dialogue that goes on in your mind. It is where you believe in yourself and are confident in your capabilities to the point that you are certain that you will succeed. Here is a list of steps you can take to create positive self-talk to get ahead in life.

1. Choose to Create Positive Self-Talk

When you realize the enormous power that thoughts have over your actions and view of life, you should make a decision to stop living your life with self-imposed limitations. Once you opt for a life filled with opportunities, potential, and fulfillment, you take the most important step to creating the reality you desire.

2. Feed Your Mind

Choose to look for good things to focus your thinking on. Focus your attention on positive, uplifting, and encouraging words to say to yourself. For example: I dont have to finish everything in my task list today or Dealing with this client will make me a more patient person. Choose to look for the silver lining.

3. Practice Persistence

Now that you realize that your self-talk has been going on for decades, you must know that taking back control over your self-talk will not happen overnight. It is a progress that will require your effort.
Continue to find ways to remind yourself to stop and analyze any negative self-talk and to counter it with a positive message to yourself. As you do this, it will become easier. You will reach a point where you do this without realizing it and building your positive self-talk will actually become second nature.

4. Observe Your Self-Talk

Try to relate to your thoughts as scenes in a movie theater screen. When you put yourself in the role of a third party or outsider, it is a lot easier to practice neutrality and to see a situation for what it really is. By becoming an observer of your thoughts and self-talk, you are better able to assess their validity or lack thereof in each thought or thinking pattern. In time, you will also be more apt to seeing trends in triggers that cause the negative self-talk to take place.

5. Re-frame Your Thinking

When you become aware of having a negative thought, give it a positive spin. For example, if your self-talk tells you Im never going to get the promotion. Im late to work yet again!; remove the negative opinion and the judgment from it. Then, you can reframe it into a more positive message like I was late to the office today, what can I do or avoid doing to get here on time? Dont allow your self-talk to beat you up so much. Take control of it and give them a spin. Focus on how you can avoid doing the behavior again.

6. Watch for Absolutes

A lot of people have a tendency to use phrases like I always, I never, or I am with negative self-talk. These phrases can be terribly harmful to you. They create an instant limitation on you and your capacity for change. Avoid them at all costs. A good way of doing this is asking yourself questions regarding the self-talk message.

7. Ask Yourself Questions

Ask yourself questions like: 1. What led me to this thought?, 2. What would be a better solution or way to handle the situation Im facing?, 3. What would allow me to overcome this challenge?, 4. What is another potential outcome in this situation?, 5. What would be the worst thing that could happen?, 6. If the worst thing that could happen did happen, how would that affect me? Is the effect really that bad? Is it fatal? These questions are a great way of combating limiting self-talk.

8. Stop the Thought

While you are in the middle of listening to your negative self-talk, stop your thoughts mid-stream by saying Stop. If your surroundings allow you to say this out loud, do so. The physical act of saying stop out loud will make you better aware of the frequency in which you are stopping negative thoughts, when it happens, where you are when it happens, and what is happening right before it.

9. Rubber-Band Snap

Wear a rubber band on your wrist and snap it each time you hear negative self-talk in your mind. If you cant say Stop out loud, this is a great alternative. The physical pain you feel from this action will be a huge motivator in stopping the negative self-talk.

10. Replace Negative Self-talk with Other Messages

A lot of people find it easier to replace negative self-talk with positive messages than to remove self-talk altogether. Some things you can do to replace your negative self-talk are: A. Use more gentle words to refer to yourself and to situations. (For example instead of thinking I hate being late, replace that thought with I really dont like being late.) and B. Change Limiting Self-talk like I cant win this case! or Im not going to be able to get that client! to questions like Why would I not win this case? and What can I do to prepare for it better?
Self-limiting statements are extremely harmful. They not only increase your stress in response to a situation but paralyze you from finding solutions to the problem. Replace these thoughts with questions instead. This way, youll be in the right frame of mind for finding ways to solve the problem. Asking yourself, How can I win this case? or What can I do to get that client? is much more empowering, isnt it?

11. Learn Discipline

View your practice of removing and changing your negative self-talk like you would a work out plan. You are not going to see results right away but will feel great once you do. Just like there will be days where you are not motivated to go to the gym, there will also be days where you are not motivated to keep track of your negative self-talk or counter it with positive messages. Doing it however helps us develop our discipline and drive.
It gives us a sense of pride for our accomplishment and a sense of control over our life. Its an incredible boost of confidence!

12. Modify the Golden Rule

Young Muslims strive for success

Over 90% of Muslim youth in Malaysia are happy with their lives and believe that hard work will bring them success and wealth, according to a recent poll.

THE youthquake that is gripping the Middle East has cast a spotlight on the young Muslims in Malaysia and Indonesia, the two majority-Muslim countries in the region.

However, as the findings of a recent survey on the Muslim youth in the region hinted, they may not be likely to start their own Jasmine Revolution here as they are content, satisfied and optimistic about their lives and their respective countries' future.

According to the survey “Values, Dreams, Ideals: Muslim Youth in South-East Asia”, 92% of young Malaysian Muslims aged 15 to 25 surveyed said that they are happy with their life compared to 93.8% young Indonesians.
Major goal: Most young Muslims believe that education is a major factor in personal development, and an important factor in social mobility.

The survey, spearheaded by the Goethe Institute and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, polled 1,060 youth aged 15 to 25 in Malaysia and 1,496 in Indonesia between October and November last year. It was jointly conducted by Merdeka Center with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the Lembaga Survei Indonesia on the Indonesian side.

Becoming an entrepreneur tops the list of aspirations for Malaysian youth (24.3%), followed by being a good parent (18.4%) and becoming rich (14.9%).

Being a politician scored almost at the bottom of the list at 0.8%, 1.9% fewer than the number aspiring to be an “artist” (singer or actor).

Some 73% are confident that their economic situation will improve while 94.9% believe that hard work will bring them success and wealth.

Most believe that education is a major factor in personal development, and an important factor in social mobility.

At the same time, many put having a family as a priority for happiness in life (94.2%).

Attaining quality education (61%), getting the opportunity to learn new things (64%) and having a successful working life (97%) are also of prime importance for Indonesian muslim youth (97%), with 53% aiming for professional success and 22.3% for wealth.

While 64% of those polled in the republic felt that the economy had remained static or declined, 57% believe in the importance of hard work to achieve what they want while 73% said that hard workers deserve to be richer.

Similarly, over 90% of the Muslim youth surveyed in Indonesia regard marriage and family as very important.

As studies showed, the revolutions in the Arab world were fired up by their young people's unhappiness with the same issues jobs, education and marriage.

What may be a cause for concern here, however, is the rising religious and social conservatism among young Muslims of the region as hinted by the findings of the survey.

Around 72% support the idea of the Quran replacing the Federal Constitution, while 98.3% say that Muslims are not allowed to change their religion, rejecting one of the freedoms enshrined in the statute.

Around 72% support the idea of the Quran replacing the Federal Constitution, while 98.3% say that Muslims are not allowed to change their religion, rejecting one of the freedoms enshrined in the statute.

A large majority of the young Muslims polled support moves to impose religious code and law in public life: about 71.5% support the cutting off of hands as punishment for convicted thieves; 92.5% agree to the death sentence for murderers; and 92.4% support whipping as punishment for those who drink alcohol.

This may not come as a surprise to many social observers as ever since former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad declared Malaysia as an Islamic state in the late 1980s, the idea has gained much currency.

And despite the peaceful co-existence of various religions in the country, the Islamisation process has grown rapidly in the last few decades.

More religious

Muslim households have grown more religious, as 88.2% of Muslim youth claimed that their families are “very religious” and “rather religious”.

Believing in God and becoming a better Muslim are rated as the most important things in life, to have friends is less important while to become rich ranks last.

In the last decade, Malaysia has gained a reputation worldwide for its seemingly conservative stance, specifically on entertainment and the arts not only from extreme religious factions but also overzealous theocrats.

This perception is intensified by the rise of other faith-related controversies such as the caning of Muslim women for drinking alcohol and protesting against the staging of rock concerts.

Take the MTV World Stage Live Concert that rocked Malaysia last week for instance.

Though it came to pass without much aftershock, there is fear that the rumble from certain Islamist factions against the music event may be a sign of the nation to come.

And while the survey shows no sign that young Muslims in the country will express their religious sentiments as vehemently, it cannot be denied that their stance on the issue may not be so different.

Similarly, Indonesian Muslim youth put faith in God and being religiously devout as the most important things in life while following traditions and customs are ranked lower with enjoying life to the fullest, last.

Interestingly, however, Indonesian youth are more adamant about separating their personal beliefs and the state.

On the question of whether the Islamic holy book should replace their country's constitution, only 20% of Indonesian Muslim youth answered “Yes”.

As for the implementation of syariah law, only 49% said yes to cutting off the hands as punishment for thieves, while a lower number (compared to Malaysia), 66.9% agreed on death sentence for murderers and 68.5% thought that Muslims caught for drinking should be whipped.

A few political and social scientists in the country, however, cautioned that the conservative outlook painted may not be completely accurate and one would need to look beneath the surface to get the whole picture.

Crucially, stressed Professor of Social Anthropology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Prof Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin, in terms of religious intensity and orientation, the poll shows that respondents cannot be categorised as extremists or fundamentalists.

Some 59.3% believe that terrorism gives Islam a bad name and there are no indications that they believe violence is an option in pushing for change.

“The survey provides sufficient findings for observers to support the impression that Malaysia is indeed not a failed state as some people would have us believe, nor is Malaysia a little Afghanistan with Taliban-like extremists running around eking out a living from growing poppies,” he wrote in his analysis of the survey.

Most importantly, the majority of both Malaysian and Indonesian youth surveyed said that they were not interested in politics.

Only 23% of Indonesian youth admitted to some interest in politics, with 27% stating that they participate in regional elections. Equally around 23% young Malaysian muslims said they were interested in politics.

However, only 14.2% of Malaysian Muslim youth participate in party politics and a mere 0.8% would want to become politicians. Worse, 66.3% have not registered as voters.

As Merdeka Center director Ibrahim Suffian concluded, the findings of the survey also show many contradictory statements.

It is as if the young people, especially the Malaysians, gave only answers that they know will be “acceptable”, opined Ibrahim.

He pointed out that while the youth's views came across as religiously conservative, in practice they are less so; only 18.1% said they read the Quran often while 28.7% said they always perform the compulsory five daily prayers.

While stating that they have little interest in politics, Malaysia's Muslim youth believe in “Peoples' Power”, and regard opposition parties as an integral part of a democracy and value freedom of expression and assembly.

While professing their strong belief in God and vowing to become better Muslims, many would rather watch television, listen to music or surf the Internet in their leisure time than go to a mosque.

No to violence

And though Malaysia's Muslim youth regard Osama bin Laden as a freedom fighter (62.4 % of the respondents), they denounce violence.

As a teacher who only wants to be known as Rashida sees it, young Malaysians are well trained in taking exams. “They know how to give the right answers to the right questions.”

Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim) exco member Jufitri Joha begged to differ, stressing that the findings largely reflect the contemporary reality, especially with regards to the young's interest in politics.

“Based on the survey, 75% of Muslim youth are not interested in politics because the current political situation is appalling. As a result, many have yet to register as voters and many do not even care who is at the helm of the country. This is a disappointing development,” he said.

He also disputed the finding that support the idea of the Quran replacing the Federal Constitution.

There are many aspects that are already covered by the Constitution, and it embodies the universal spirit of Islam.

“Perhaps, there needs to be some amendments from time to time to fit in with the Islamic code, on condition that it is also universal. But my fellow Abim members all agree that the constitution also cannot be amended too freely and too many times (as what has happened since independence),” Jufitri argued.

Ibrahim pointed out that it is important to consider that growing up in Malaysia, Muslim youth are constantly reminded of what they need to do and how to be good Muslims by parents, religious leaders, government-controlled media, teachers and others.

Political scientist and journalism lecturer at Monash University Malaysia Dr Wong Chin Huat agreed.

Peer pressure

“The cultural preference and taste of the Malaysian Muslim youth may be largely shaped by highly-controlled broadcast media, local religious teachers and parents much more than organic interaction of their peers or other autonomous social groupings,” he said.

He felt this may explain their universal reported rejection of un-Islamic lifestyles: occasional beer drinking (96.1%), taking soft drugs (98.9%), pre-marital sex (98.4%), watching pornographic movies (97.5%) and homosexuality (99.4%).

He also believes strongly that it would be “intellectually inept and morally wrong to equate religiosity of Muslims with their rejection of inclusion and modernity.”

True, today's Muslim youth lived in and embraced a globalised world. Modern technology has become a significant part of youth culture, taking young people beyond borders and exposing them to different cultures, views and value-systems.

Jufitri feels that this is apparent in the young's belief that they can push for social and political change through means other than political participation.

The only problem is, he said: “In reality, youth groups fail to attract the majority of the younger generation to join and work towards social and political change because many of these groups have the image of being boring and uncool.”

1. KERJA KERAS
8. KERJASAMA KELOMPOK
